The Edge

Several years ago, Leadout Ministries started a project in our community. Together with a local high school academy, we planted a garden with an important purpose. The idea for this garden, which we named The Edge, came from Leviticus 19:9, 10

The purpose of The Edge is twofold.

First, in a practical, tangible way, we provide for the needs of those in our community. Cantaloupe, tomatoes and a host of other vegetables are grown and given away. Second, we provide summer jobs to high school and college students needing work during the summer months. Students who work at The Edge have their earnings put directly towards their school bill.

During its first and second season, The Edge provided food from the garden to dozens of families, single parents, and retired individuals in our valley.

By being His hands and feet, we meet our goal for this garden.

Needs exist all around us. How can faith communities help to meet those needs in meaningful ways? Comment below.

“When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:9,10
